Graham Turk '17 awarded Fulbright

Graham Turk '17 has been awarded a Fulbright grant to study solar microgrids in Stockholm, Sweden in 2017-2018. At KTH Royal Institute of Technology, he will conduct research in facilitating the efficient, shared use of solar electricity among an apartment building's tenants, under the guidance of Professor Lars Nördstrom. This will contribute to Professor Nördstrom's efforts to employ innovative demand-side electricity management techniques to reduce carbon emissions from the energy sector.

At Princeton, Graham has conducted research in estimating rooftop solar generating potential in Dr. Alan Kaplan's independent work seminar, and computational molecular modeling in Emily A. Carter's group. He is the president of the Princeton club ice hockey team and founder of the Sustainable Software Initiative, a student organization dedicated to addressing campus sustainability challenges with software applications. Graham served as a lab teaching assistant for the introductory computer science sequence from 2015-2016.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Each year, over 1,000 Americans study or conduct research in over 140 nations with the support of the Fulbright.
