Quantum Computing

Quantum computing research explores how quantum mechanical phenomena — superposition, entanglement and interference — can be harnessed to perform computation in fundamentally new ways. One of the long-term goals of this research is to build fault-tolerant quantum computers capable of tackling problems intractable for even the most powerful classical systems. At Princeton, research includes quantum algorithms and complexity work, cryptography, quantum error correction and architecture/systems design for a range of qubit technologies. Computer science researchers work closely with others across campus through the Princeton Quantum Initiative and other interdisciplinary efforts.
