Edward Felten, a Princeton University computer scientist who is a leading expert on computer security, has been named U.S. Deputy Chief Technology Officer in the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).

In the spring of 2010, students and faculty of Princeton’s Computer Science Department received an email invitation that was hard to turn down: a Friday evening “study break” in the computer science building that featured goodies from The Bent Spoon, a popular Palmer Square ice creamery and bakery.

Late last March, a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack was launched against GitHub, apparently for hosting Greatfire.org, a site that mirrors censored content from the BBC and the New York Times, making it accessible in China.
