David Steurer*10 and Sharon Goldberg*09 receive Sloan Research Fellowships
Congratulations to David Steurer*10 and Sharon Goldberg*09 on receiving a Sloan Research Fellowships. Goldberg received her PhD in Electical Engineering, however her advisors were Computer Science Professors Jennifer Rexford and Boaz Barak. Goldberg is now an assistant professor at Boston University.

Katherine Pogrebniak wins Churchill Scholarship
Computer Science major Katherine Pogrebniak is one of this year’s recipients of a Churchill Scholarship. Awarded by the Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States, Churchill Scholarships are granted to students wishing to pursue graduate studies in science, mathematics, or engineering with "exceptional academic talent and outstanding achievement".

Prof Mark Braverman awarded Packard Fellowship
Professor Mark Braverman was one of the recipients of the 2013 Packard Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to the country's most innovative young scientists and engineers in the first three years of their faculty careers allowing them the flexible funding to freely conduct exploratory research and take risks in their field of study.

Prof. Bernard Chazelle awarded 2013 SIAG/CST Best SICON Paper Prize
Professor Bernard Chazelle was awarded the 2013 SIAG/CST Best SICON Paper Prize at the SIAM Annual Meeting on July 9, 2013 in San Diego, California. The prize is awarded every two years to the authors of the two most outstanding papers published in the SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization (SICON) in the two calendar years before the year of the award.
