Princeton has been at the forefront of computing since the early twentieth century, when some of the founders of the discipline — including Alan Turing, Alonzo Church, John von Neumann and Oswald Veblen — walked the halls.
Forty years ago, in September 1985, Computer Science became a standalone department at Princeton, creating a new foundation for pursuing cutting-edge research in computing. Now with over 60 faculty members and hundreds of students, the department continues to educate the next generation of leaders in technology and foster innovation in the nation's service and the service of humanity.
