December 12. Lecture notes for today's lecture are now available. The reading for today's lecture is also available.
September 19. Please remember to check the course newsgroup (pu.cs.217 on server news.princeton.edu) frequently, especially while working on assignments.
September 16. Pequod doesn't have the lecture notes ready yet; and I noticed that the packet I sent them doesn't include lecture #3 ("Programming Style & Scope in Programming Languages"). So I make available the first three lectures here.

NOTE: The lecture-note booklet from Pequod should have a last slide-number of 539. Don't let them sell you the wrong version, with last slide #618.

September 12. Pequod copy claims that the lecture-notes package (PLU# 109) will be available sometime Friday, September 13.

Dear C.S. 217 students:

Computer Science 217 lectures will be held in room 105 of the Computer Science Building, not room 104. I'll see you at 10 o'clock tomorrow.

There are three precepts,
1. TTh 1:30 in Friend 112
2. WF 10:00 in C.S. 105
3. WF 1:30 in Friend 112

Precept 1 is overenrolled, and precept 2 is underenrolled. Also, those students who registered for the course this week either did not indicate a precept number, or the registrar did not inform me of your choice. At this point there is no room for additional students in precept 1, nor more than one more student in precept 3. I strongly encourage anyone who can to see me (after lecture tomorrow would be a good time) about switching to precept 2.

The course Web site is http://www.cs.princeton.edu/courses/cs217 For most future announcements, I won't bother you with e-mail; I'll just post them to the Announcements section of the web site.

I hope you have as much fun taking CS217 as I intend to have teaching it.

Sincerely,

Andrew Appel

As per University policy, the precepts that would ordinarily meet on Friday 9/13/02 will instead meet on Monday 9/16/02.
