AI slop wastes people’s time, but it also has deeper structural effects. Many institutions relied on processes with some friction as a form of natural spam protection, but AI has now eliminated those costs. Submitting a paper for peer review, applying for a job, filing a legal complaint, and dozens of other processes can now be automated, which threatens to overwhelm systems and organizations.
The thesis of this project is that many institutions face strikingly similar threats due to slop and can learn defensive strategies from each other.
