5/8/00 Solutions for the midterm exam are now available.

5/6/00 If you would like a sample problem for the project, download ascii files sample_relations, sample_indexes and sample_query. The buffer size also needs to be specified; we suggest you try buffer sizes 100, 200 and 400 pages (as separate instances). Remember, designing good test cases is part of the project. This sample is just to give you a concrete example.
5/5/00 The solutions for problem set 6 are now available online. Graded work is hanging in envelopes on the bulletin board outside Prof. LaPaugh's office.
5/2/00 Final class with review for final exam will be held Thursday, May 4 at 1:30 PM in Room 103 of the Computer Science Building (our regular classroom).

3/17/00 Jonathan Herbach, a student in the class, made a pdf file of solutions for odd-numbered textbook problems in Chapters 1 through 8 from the full set of solutions for odd-numbered problems in PostScript available from the textbook Web site. He has graciously made this pdf file available to everyone. The pdf file may be found here. You MAY REFER TO THIS FILE OF SOLUTIONS while you are writing your midterm exam.
3/25/00 Professor LaPaugh will have office hours from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday (3/26) to answer questions before the test goes out Monday morning. Please be aware that once the test is distributed, questions about course material will not be answered.

3/4/00 In recognition of midterms week, late penalties have been suspended for Problem Set 3 submissions received by 5pm Friday, March 10. NO submissions will be accepted after that time.
2/29/00 The solution to 2.6.2 in problem set 1 that was missing is now there.
2/22/00 The solutions for problem set 1 are now available online. The solution to 2.6.2 is missing; I will update the solutions as soon as I receive that missing part from Ms. Chen. Papers will be returned in class.

2/18/00 The course text Database Managment Systems has a Web home page: http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~dbbook. There you will find, among other things, solutions to the odd-numbered problems at the end of each chapter and text errata.
