SPE is an opportunity for Princeton University
undergrads with little programming experience
outside of a few introductory courses to improve
their programming skills in a self directed way
by designing and building a project of their
choice. Students participating in SPE often go
on to major or certificate in Computer Science.
The 2004 participants stayed on campus
for six weeks from June 7th to July 16th,
and generally worked 40 hours per week
under the supervision of SPE's project
coordinator, Kevin Wayne
and their
assigned graduate student advisor(s).
Housing for the six weeks was covered,
and the participants were paid a stipend.
