The first exam will be distributed Monday (Nov. 10) after class and will be due on Wednesday (Nov 12) at the beginning of class.  It will cover the material through topic "XML and the tree model".    You may find the first exam of COS 425 in fall06 (pdf)  helpful in preparing for this exam.   Most of the material that your exam is covering was covered on this old exam at the same level.   A notable exception is functional dependencies, normal forms, and relation decomposition, which were not covered in COS 425.
