Friday, Dec. 5, 12:30 pm:
The second exam will be distributed Wednesday (Dec. 10) after
class and will be due on Friday (Dec. 12) at 5:00 pm. It will
emphasize the material of weeks 6 through 10: information retrieval through transactions. The rules of
referencing materials will be the same as for exam 1. The online
readings posted for class 10/22 (inverted indexes) and class
11/24 (indexing for XML) will be allowed.
You may find the second exam of
COS 425 in fall06 (pdf)
helpful in preparing for our second exam. Most of the
material that our exam is covering was covered on this old exam at the
same level. However, transactions
were not covered on the second exam in COS 425, fall06 but will be
covered in your exam at the level of the class slides for Nov. 26.

Errata: the links
to the Announcements, Schedule and Readings and Project pages within the text of
the General Information page
are wrong. Since everyone is submitting the right problem sets, I
believe you are all seeing the correct Schedule and Readings page.
However differences in the Project
Page could be missed. Please be sure you are using the Project Page showing "Computer
Science 597A" and "Fall 2008".

Sunday, Nov. 9 7:00 pm: Errata
for Slide 11 of the slides on constraints

any obvious typo, but a corrected pdf version of the notes has now
replaced the original (under Oct. 8).
