Fitting B-spline patches

• Assumes each patch is rectangularly parametrizable and has no holes

• Resample each irregular polygonal patch into a regular grid of points (the spring mesh)

• Apply gridded data fitting techniques to the spring mesh to obtain a spline approximation

• No need for parameter re-estimation

  • Faster than traditional non-linear approaches
