Summer Programming Experiences 2009
Welcome to the SPE 2009 Homepage! Check out our Photos and Projects for a glimpse into the valuable skills and lasting memories we shared over the summer!
Nine Princeton undergraduates spent the summer working on original, substantive programming projects for an inside look at hands-on computer science. Through our independent exploration, we learned not only essential programming techniques but also the importance of engaging with others to create collaborative solutions. This open-ended programming experience encouraged and prepared us to take more advanced computer science courses.
We worked in pairs or individually, with the support of a Computer Science graduate student mentor to help us along the way. The COS 226 Course Development students, Dana Hoffman ('12), Jacob Lewellen ('10) and Michael Sobin ('12) coded alongside us, also willing to give their advice. We're eSPEcially indebted to SPE Director Professor Kevin Wayne, who guided the development of our minds, programs, and friendships over the summer, challenging us intellectually, offering us expert instruction, and treating us to ice cream each Friday!
