- MimdRAID Low Latency I/O Research: How to use multiple disks or specialized disks with new layout and scheduling techniques to reduce disk I/O latency.
- Maintaining VMMC-II, a high performance user level cluster communication system, software distribution including user level library, kernel driver and on card firmware for Linux, Windows NT and 2000 platform.
- Shared Virtual Memory research in cluster system and developed VMMC-II extension to support fast firmware lock and VMMC checkpointing to support fault tolerant SVM.
- Pulsar file system: A scalable, fault tolerant distributed file system on the SHRIMP multi-computer, using user level threads
