The Presidents

Written by Mr Nelson's fifth grade English class when there were fewer presidents!

Washington, Adams, the first two men;
Followed by Jefferson and Madison then.
Next came Monroe and old John Q.
The country began with just these few.

Cleveland, Truman, Kennedy, Ford,
Some for their bravery should win an award.
Franklin Roosevelt and his wonderful mate;
And Richard Nixon at Watergate.

Carter the smiler, A. Johnson and Tyler;
L. Johnson on a plane was a ten thousand miler.
Theo and Herbert marching proud;
Wilson and Garfield stand out in a crowd.

Polk and Van Buren both democrat;
Harrison died in thirty days flat.
Zachary Taylor, Arthur and Hayes,
Obscure men with obscure ways.

Harding was hardy, Buchanon was tall;
President Coolidge said nothing at all.
William H. Taft was a smart old man;
Reagan had the perfect plan.

Benjamin Harrison was named "Little Ben";
President Eisenhower was a commander of men.
McKinley was shot in Buffalo;
Jackson made the nation grow.

The thirteenth president was Millard Fillmore,
California to the nation added much more.
Ulysses S. Grant was commander in chief;
Lincoln lived his life with grief.

We've named them all except just one,
He's Franklin Pierce, and now we're done!
