This section describes ways in which sniffle can be extended and improved.
The first ``production version'' of the sniffle system is a reasonably complete general-purpose tool for remotely controling electronic equipment. It should therefore be useful for a wide range of applications in Dr. Littman's laboratory and perhaps beyond. It is best to apply the system to a number of different tasks and use it to the limits of its ability before adding features or extensions. Only after exhausing its existing capabilities should one attempt to tinker with it; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
There may come a time, however, when the initial version of sniffle falls short of an application's specifications. The system is designed in a fairly flexible, extensible, modular way. It should be relatively easy to extend sniffle or to steal parts of it for use with other systems.
