  • Binary Translation for Embedded Systems
    • Research work for the Embedded System Software Project, which is affiliated with Compilation Technology Research Group at National Chiao Tung University and Andes Technology Corporation (2006.7 - 2007.7)
    • Designed and implemented a static/dynamic ARM-to-MIPS binary translation system
    • Developed translation optimizations for ARM-specific features (e.g., conditional codes, shifter operands)
  • Program Protection and Cracking
    • Mandatory military service (2004.12 - 2005.12)
    • Conducted binary code analysis with disassembler and debugger (w/o source code)
    • Exploited cryptographic schemes to protect programs from unauthorized use
  • Extended Escape Analysis for Java
    • Master thesis project (2003 - 2004)
    • Devised an inter-procedural algorithm to analyze the lifetime of escaped objects
    • Exploited hybrid approach, i.e., static escape analysis with runtime stack allocation, to improve the performance of heap management in JVM
  • Cache Performance Evaluation of Speech Recognition
    • Course project for Advanced Computer Architecture (2002.9 - 2003.1)
    • Explored the memory hierarchy behavior of speech recognition application
    • Used Sphinx as the domain application and SimpleScalar as the architecture simulator
  • Survey of Packet Classification
    • Course project for Advanced Computer Networks (2002.2 - 2002.6)
    • Conducted literature survey and comparison of the state-of-the-art packet classification algorithms for network routers
