Pastitsio is a delicious traditional Greek baked pasta dish.

Here is my Aunt Anna's famous recipe... Enjoy!

Step 1: Prepare the Minced Meat

2 lbs of minced beef

heat in frying pan then add:

1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 grated onion

    Allow it to cook for a few minutes then add:
     
  • 1 small can of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 cup of water

    Let it all cook until it gets dry
     

Step 2: Prepare the Pasta

boil 1/2 a pot of water and add:

1 box of Ziti #2 pasta

2 tablespoons of salt

let boil for 15 minutes

rinse pasta with cold water and add:

1 egg (beaten)

3 tablespoons of grated cheese

Step 3: Prepare the Béchamel Sauce

in a bowl, mix:

2 cups of milk

1/3 teaspoon of salt

1/3 teaspoon of pepper

2 eggs

slowly add 10-12 tablespoons of flour
and keep mixing!
 

separately, bring the following to a boil:

4 cups of milk

1/2 tablespoon of butter
 

slowly add the bowl mixture to
the boiling milk until it's creamy

Step 4: Putting it All Together

lightly oil the bottom of the baking pan

layer 2/3's of the pasta in the pan

add the minced meat

add the remaining 1/3 of the pasta

top with the béchamel sauce

melt 3 tablespoons of butter and brush on top of the sauce
 

preheat oven to 400 degrees

bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees
