 Past resarch

Prior to my current work I worked with Professor J.P.Singh on software DSM systems.  I was (and still am) part of the PRISM group.  Specifically we have designed several SVM protocols here at Princeton.  These (and others designed at other universities) have concentrated on clusters of uniprocessor systems.  My contribution was to design an SVM system that ran on a cluster of SMP machines.  This research was my “Generals seminar”.  It was published as a paper in HPCA 98.  The papers are listed below.

  • All-software DSM systems for SMP clusters

 Current research

Currently I am  involved with the “Display Wall” project (we are currently contemplating the oficial name for this project).  The general idea is to build a very large (20’ x 10’) and high-resolution (4000 x 1500) monitor using an array of commodity PC projectors.  There are 8 Projectors, each of which is connected to a Pentium II PC with an Intense3D video board.  The specific areas I am interested in are listed below.  All these are in the context of 3D polygon rendering.

  • Parallel rendering
  • Load Balancing
  • Data distribution
  • Support for existing APIs (OpenGL)
