My life before Princeton included
- teaching Computer Science (Programming, Data Structures, Programming
Languages, Operating Systems) at
Boston University.
I also supervised the Visual Languages Programming Group.
At that time, I was the only
regular, full-time CS faculty member without a doctorate, so
I endured more than the usual spattering of committee assignments and
meetings.
- teaching
summer
and
evening
courses for
Harvard University
(Computer Science, Calculus, and Linear Algebra),
- consulting for ETS (the College Board and GRE people),
- technical writing and quality control engineering for
Unitrode,
a Massachusetts-based integrated circuit manufacturer,
- snagging a couple of Graduate degrees
(Tufts,
Harvard,
Princeton), and
- living and working overseas.
