Big Blue and Me

I'm living in Connecticut and working on the BlueGene supercomputer at IBM Research now. My office phone number is (914) 945-3560.

Dr. Blumrich!

Obviously, I eventually graduated. Check out Network Interface for Protected, User-Level Communication. Matthias A. Blumrich. PhD thesis, Princeton University, June 1996.

Who is this guy, anyway?

For my dissertation, I designed the network interface for the SHRIMP multicomputer with my advisor Kai Li. We successfully built a 16-node system and used it for a little while. Now the project has moved on to myrinet-connected clusters. I have several publications, most of which are available online. So is my (always slightly outdated) résumé.

In general, I am most interested in the architecture and design of high-performance computer systems. My interests range from high-level architecture specification to low-level implementation. I believe in designing and implementing systems that satisfy the needs of applications and operating systems, so I have a distinct interest in this area as well.

My spare time interests include playing with my kids, and, uh, that's it. I used to be interested in karate, biking, reading, and brewing beer...

Payroll Program,
