New Jersey Computer Security Seminar

Many computer security researchers work in and around New Jersey. The New Jersey Computer Security Seminar (NJCSS) is a forum for those researchers to meet and discuss their work. NJCSS is modeled on the successful New Jersey Programming Language Seminar.

Ed Felten (Princeton University) and Mike Reiter (Bell Labs) are organizing the first NJCSS meeting, which will probably be held in late January, 2001. We anticipate that the seminars will be run as follows:

• meetings every two months or so;
• meetings open to everyone, but we expect most of the attendees to come from New Jersey and its suburbs (such as New York and Pennsylvania);
• a typical meeting might last from 10:00 until 4:00, and include five 45-minute talks, plus breaks and lunch;
• each meeting will be hosted by a member, who will be arrange for a room and lunch and will coordinate the choice of speakers;
• talks will be relatively informal and will describe either finished work or work in progress;
• the attendees at each meeting will vote to elect a host for the next meeting.
