Dick and Fran were in New York and so we went into the city and met them for dinner at La Silhouette but somehow neglected to get pictures of the food.
Back at work, Judith Weisenfeld came by for her meeting as Acting chair of religion
And, Michele Minter came by for a meet and greet as she enters her new role.
Back on the campus, I ran into Seva and Alison Politziner while speaking with Joyce Rechtschaffen
Then it was Rosh Hashanah and we were happy to have everyone home for the holiday. Sarah baked a lovely challah
and then there were various attempts at finding a venue for the family photo
before we realized that we should go outside and Sarah made her way
to join Suzanne
and then they were joined by Jane
and Ben
before I joined for these set of family photos, one of which would be our holiday card.

and with Suzanne before we headed off to services.
Back at home, we had a caprese salad
and green beans
and parsley
and nice apples to dip in honey
to go with the chicken dish
and 3 cake layers for the cake that would have some structural issues
and, of course, Sarah's challah
The tomatoes called out for artistic photos
as did the fruit bowl
the olives
the figs (with goat cheese)
and the artichoke hearts
as I tried to get the perfect fig picture, not an easy task.
We were about ready to serve the salad
the green beans
and these elegant appetizers
when the Kramers arrived
and so apples were cut
challah was blessed
and we gathered by the table to eat.
Sam arrived and he and Ben went off on an excursion
and then Jeff arrived but insisted on traveling incognito
though he did bring us various pieces of Hawaii and holiday cheer
as we had those foods that dip well in honey and hoped for a sweet year.
In the next round, Claire arrived
with David
and Ed, all fresh from their various trains
which amused Suzanne
as we assembled for yet another meal, undoubtedly suggesting that it would be a year of abundance but hopefully not a year of corpulence.
Lily arrived soon after
and cracked a smile as we all wished for happiness and good health.
Next it was time to prepare for the Race for the Cure and so Jane started making cookies
from this large amount of batter
and none of us wanted to think about how much butter
was going into the batter
which would look delicious
though Suzanne
insisted that we hold off until marshmellows
could be added to the product
to give a smore like feeling
even as we selected a wine
and cooked up the shrimp that would be dinner.
The actual day of the race arrived and so we assembled the T shirts from last year's race that we had been given
and arranged them outside for all to take
and displayed signs from previous races to complete the setting
also noting the M&M's that were specially made for the event
and the elegantly colored flowers from Sam's Club
and elsewhere
as the fruit and M&M's were placed on the table
with the desserts
chips
desserts
and chips about to emerge
as Suzanne gives me the money I will need
for the ice
and hoagies as we arrive at Hoagie Haven
and watch their display
as the first hoagie is brought out
and consumes the whole shelf
as the worker
hands me the bill
and then helps us place the hoagie in the car
before we return and place the ice of the floor to be distributed.
Kristen, Suzanne and Sharon pose
as we assemble the hoagies
and condiments
and arrange the ice around the drinks
with the smoked salmon
taking us back to the drinks
as the delivery from Main Street arrives
accompanied by the bill.
with more stuff
and more bill.
The grapes, nuts, chips and dips were put together
and the M&M's added
as the first guest -- the Baums -- arrived
and then came Jeff
Diane White
Kaylen and Adele hagadorn
John Shea and Boot Seem
with Doris and Lauren right behind,
the Marsh's
the Gardners
Audrey
Steven Just
Laura and Hannah Ash
Paul Dimaggio
and the Klockenbrinks along with Heather and her family
as Tony brings his dog forward
to be followed by the Middlekauff dog
and the Jones's
and then the Harrison's -- Scott, Kelly, Graham and Fletcher.
Carolyn and Lucy arrived
as we assembled for the group photos.

and later that day, Ben had the sandwich to end all sandwiches.
