This was the next day, Monday, when we were back to work though in shifts. I was on the second shift and so started the day by taking a picture of the hotel sign
and then settling in for breakfast
though I was unable to record the number on my egg.
At the lab, I took a picture of Andreas and Vracule
and back at the hotel, I had a spinach and feta pie to tide me over before dinner
which I ate as I watched the locals tried to clear the beach at the hotel of rocks.
Because they were still a work in progress, we headed off in search of the THE black beach. A 2 km drive down a dirt road took us here
but after viewing the setting
and looking back to the red beach boundary
we realized we were in the wrong place
and so after a photo op at the gift shop, we headed on
this time down a 1 km road that was steeper and dustier until we got to the next resort
where we looked out at their beach
and enjoyed the view
and the stones
of their beach
before heading down the beach
where some might swim
as I admired the water
the rocks bounding our beach
and the scene in the distance
as some others entered the water
over the rocks
that didn't end at the water's edge.
The rock formations were impressive
with a cave at the boundary
and along the way
as I watched the water
the sailboat in a distance
and collected a rock.
The heart shape in the rocks
reminded me that in the opposite direction
the sun was beginning to set
as the swimmers continued to enjoy the water
and the sun continued its way down
the rocks (or were they pebbles) continued to amuse
while the colors of sunset were vivid
and the swimmers
made their way back to shore
as the sailboat made great progress
towards the other end of the cove.
I took pictures of the structures built into caves

The caldera gave beautiful view
as did the landscape up to where we were
which inspired me to consider a collection of pictures of people at telescopes
even as the sunset
inspired Tim to dance
while I recorded its effect on the land in various directions

As often happens, when the sun went down, the moon (with a planet) came up
and I looked out at the lighthouse in the great distance
before declaring the sun set
so that we could make our way into the town of Fira for dinner. Nikolas, our new friend, posed with Ben and Mathew
and then brought me artichokes and potatoes in lemon
and brought others mousaka
and lamb.
At meal's end, he brought us all complimentary raisin wine
and then took these group pictures.
