The picture on my Princeton home page is cropped from the picture below (circa 1986). I found this picture just after I decided to join the faculty at Princeton and around the time I got my pilot's license. The sweatshirt has more meaning now and the aircraft are bigger.
To the left is my younger brother, Jonathan. He built the plane from a kit. To the right is Herbert, a family friend and pilot. Immediately following this shot Herbert flew this plane, on its first flight, into a tree. Needless to say, my brother was not happy.
