Parking:

On Sunday, parking is free on the streets, and there are several spots on Olden Street, Williams Street and Prospect Ave. You can also use lot 10 (Sunday only), which is close to the location of the workshop Friend Center.

Monday onwards, you can park for free in either lot 21 or lot 23, and from there you take a shuttle, see map. Alternatively, there is metered parking on the streets. Several spots on Olden St and Williams St are 10 hour spots and are particularly convenient. If you use lots 21 or 23, you need to print out this form and place it on the windshield of your car.

Travel to New York

We have a free evening 4:30 onwards on Sunday. Some of you may want to take this opportunity to visit New York. For your convenience, here is information on getting to the city via public transport.

You can also catch a bus from Nassau St (short walk from workshop). Buses leave on the hour and get to Port Authority bus terminal (near Times Square) in 1hr 45min.
For return trip, buses leave on the hour from Port Authority (until midnight) and get to Princeton downtown in 1hr 30 min. You have to buy the return bus ticket before you board the bus. Bus fare is about 12.50 one way.

To get to Princeton by train from Newark Airport, take the New Jersey Transit Northeast Corridor line to Princeton Junction station, and change there to the shuttle train (also known as "dinky") to Princeton. Note: You should buy a ticket all the way to Princeton (not just to Princeton junction), and retain the ticket to get on the shuttle. You can buy a cheaper roundtrip ticket as long as you don't use it in peak hours (for the Newark to Princeton direction the peak hours are afternoons on Monday to Friday, and for the reverse direction the peak hours are mornings on Monday to Friday). [#about] The Women in Theory (WIT) Workshop is intended for graduate and undergraduate students in the area of theory of computer science. The workshop will feature technical talks and tutorials by senior and junior women in the field, as well as social events and activities.

The motivation for the workshop is two fold: first to deliver an invigorating educational program. The second goal is motivated by the fact that because the overall number of female graduate students and faculty in theoretical computer science is very low, it is often the case that in an individual department there are very few women faculty and students (sometimes only one or two), and as a result these students sometimes feel isolated and have no role models to look up to. Such a workshop would provide an outstanding opportunity to bring together women students from different departments across the country (and possibly international), so as to foster a sense of kinship and camaraderie.
