The Princeton University Displaywall has the following hardware and software environment.

Hardware:

24 DLP Projectors - Compaq MP1800

1 JenMar black screen 18'x8'

Display cluster of 24 workstations (wall-1 through wall-24):

bulletNvidia GeForce2 GTS graphics card

Console Computer (for user control) - Dual Processor Pentium II

500GB Pentium II file server using two 3ware IDE control cards with 16 60GB Maxtor hard drives. Using Win2k software RAID5 with hardware RAID0.

Myrinet fast networking switch with Lanai 4.1 PCI cards

100Mb switched ethernet

16 channel sound system controlled from sound cards in the display cluster or from a separate sound server.

Software:

All computers run Windows 2000 with the Nvidia graphics driver.

All software is compiled using Visual C++ 6.0

The display cluster computers run "dwallRunner" a service which spawns and kills applications. 

The console computer runs "dwallGui" or "dwallCon" to send requests to dwallRunner on the display computers to spawn or kill applications.

All computers map a common drive (w: mapped to a displaywall directory on the fileserver)

There is a global configuration file which computers use to find out their position in the display grid and other configuration settings.
