Create a Sound for the Display Wall


This page explains how to make a sound for the Display Wall. Goldwave software is usually used to author and/or convert sound files.

The display wall uses .wav files for sound.  Please create a .wav file or convert other files to .wav for sound.  Use the Goldwave program to create the sound files.

Or The following instructions are for converting sound files using a command prompt.

1. what the display wall requires

A. The large screen accepts sounds of the following type:
 
  1. Sun format ".au"
  2. 16-bit
  3. mono or stereo
  4. signed, byte-swapped
2. converting the sound to a screen-compatible format
A. the screen will only play sounds in .wav format.
B. the display wall computer has a program that can convert ".au" files of the type described above to the .wav format
3. place your .au sound file in the \DisplayWall\bin directory
A. go to the DOS prompt

1. go to the \DisplayWall\bin directory
2. to convert your .au file to .wav enter the following command:

a. snd2nds <filename>.au <filename>.wav
 

4. the sound file is now ready to be played individually or used as part of a script
