For this writeup you will take a step back and assume you want to be CTO of a startup in an emerging area (an area that is building up momentum in terms of innovation happening and is perceived to have significant business opportunities). Examples can be energy (clean tech), cloud infrastructure (moving computation/storage to the cloud for various businesses and users), biotech (e.g., computational biology), Internet applications (building services/applications and offering them over the Internet), mobile computing (offering applications/services for smart phones and other mobile devices), online advertising (can be video and/or more traditional forms), healthcare (e.g., digitizing healthcare records), etc. You can pick one area that you consider emerging as your "startup space". After selecting an area, you will answer:You will submit this writeup individually. The word limit is 500 words. Watch the mailinglist for relevant articles on some recent emerging areas.
