Thoughts for Valentine's Day:

GPS Clocking. Means to deduce really accurate
time base from GPS? Means to hack soundcard(s)
to let us servo the clock (I know some ways to
do this, but we'll have to do it on a PC (no IPAQ
or MOTE or whatever for this round).

IPAQs: The CS dept. might have a couple, but they're
old (like 3 or more years). We probably need some
new ones?

4 kinds of Mics.
Small conference table array (we could hook this to a PC)
Linear array of mics in hall.
Grid array of mics in room.
One mic on fixed position, variable noise source (printer).
One mic on a mobile human.

Middleware. Architecture/protocol for Mote nodes to
make some decisions locally, and make others based on
information from others. Architecture for IPAQs to
talk to Motes and each other. Web server to do
reporting/stats on what the IPAQs are doing?

A Minimal MoteMic Might:
1) Have two closely spaced mics? and use those to
1a) do local direction of arrival estimation
   1b) do noise cancellation
   1c) transmit compressed stereo information
2) Do scaleable/switchable compression, based
on local and joint information decisions
(these all depend on cycles (and power??))
2a) Decent music compression if music
2b) Speech model compression if speech
2c) Generic audio compression if unknown
   2d) Squelch if noise
3) Transmit
3a) current status as deduced locally
3a) stream nothing if noise or silence, unless net override
   3b) stream appropriate stream type
4) Have blinking LEDS in various colors
