Course Summary
Our main goal is to examine computational biology issues from the viewpoint of
computer science. We will focus especially on DNA computing, a new method of
using DNA experiments to perform digital computations, and we will study both
the potential and the difficulties of making DNA computations work in practice.
Other topics will include sequencing, protein structure, and sequence homology,
with emphasis on the computer science aspects and their relation to recent new
results on approximation algorithms.
