General Information

This is a group project course. Everybody in the course will work together to design and implement a single software project. The project is an extension to Usenet newgroups to support secure discussion groups. By "secure" we mean that messages are authenticated, and messages are by default visible only to authorized members of a group.

We are currently in the initial phase of the course, in which we are investigating possible implementation platforms and strategies, and defining specifications for the formats and protocols we will need to use. We want our system to be generally compatible with the existing Usenet infrastructure and to re-use existing protocols and existing code as much as possible.
