Written Exercise 2: 3D Surface Meshes

Due on Sun, Oct 21 at 11:59PM

1) Both multiresolution meshes and spectral meshes aim to represent "frequencies" in 3D surface geometry. Please comment on how each does so, drawing analogies to frequency analysis in other domains (e.g., 1D signals or images).

2) Please describe how frequency analysis of meshes is useful for interactive surface editing, where a user invokes changes to a 3D mesh by selecting and then dragging points on a surface.

Please write your answers in less than one page total and email the result in pdf format to funk@cs.princeton.edu.
