The major project for the course will be to build one or more (depending on class size) complete systems for 3D photography. That is, we will build a triangulation-based 3D scanner and write a complete software system for processing the scans, aligning them, reconstructing a merged model, and integrating the geometry with color data.

This will be a group project - different people will work on different pieces of the pipeline, depending on personal interest. Some class time will be allotted to discussing the design of the system, brainstorming about different tradeoffs, planning the interaction between different components, etc.
